This Thursday, I had the privilege of attending the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. I left the event feeling inspired and proud to be a part of this film industry… Unlike the smoke & mirrors of LA (I love LA – don’t get me wrong), the event was organic, and the speeches were filled with joy and accomplishment that the years of challenging work each nominee & award winner put in to the film industry had finally been recognized. My favourite part of the event was seeing so many diverse cultures come together in celebration through film, & in an industry that still does not represent varying cultures and people of all races (pop culture), it was so so incredible to actually see just that in my own country. Whilst I feel overwhelmingly happy about my blog and I’m super excited to see how it all goes, I can’t help but feel a sense of anxiety… Second-thoughts drift through my head and I find myself questioning whether I should put myself out there. I, of course, am in an industry where if you don’t put yourself out there, chances are you won’t get very far... but as a mostly introverted person who feels anxiety I can’t help but want to close-up and/or second guess myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super proud of myself for starting this blog and I hope it’ll continue to inspire and motivate me, as well as keep me connected to all my readers.
